I have been a Save A Lab foster twice- failed each time because the dogs were so wonderful! This is a top notch organization to work with because they NEVER cut corners. If a Momma dog is in the shelter with her puppies, they always take her along with the puppies- which not all rescue will do. They always stand by the animals they pull, even when health issues are found after they rescue them. They never turn their back on a dog that is in need. There are many rescues out there, but there are few as reputable as Save A lab.

I am a volunteer for tis group and foster the dogs that they rescue. I will say that as a whole the other volunteers are fantastic and the principles running the organization are very responsive to any issues or concerns that I have had. I have had all positive experiences with everyone involved with SAL and they are truly concerned about the dogs they rescue as well as their volunteers.

We are so grateful to Save A LAB. They are so passionate and dedicated to rescuing dogs! They always treat the families like friends and go out of their way to assist them or support them even long after the adoption! It takes a village and Save A Lab is the group you can count on to do whats right! Our family and our Dixie (fka Nala) thank you for all the work you do!!!!

Save a Lab goes above and beyond for EVERY single dog that they rescue, foster and adopt. From the moment we encountered Save a Lab, we not only found a perfect puppy (now happy healthy 1 year old lab mix), we also found a fantastic group of people that go the extra mile to save dogs’ lives. The application process is very thorough and they do not leave any question as to who they are adopting dogs to. They only accept complete applications and only approve new forever families after speaking to references and vets. Though the process can be lengthy, it is 100% worth is considering the love each of the adopted dogs gets when they make it to their new homes. A lot of the rescuing adopters also later foster, help transport and attend fundraisers for the rescue. Overall, as said before, when adopting through Save a Lab we not only adopted a wonderfully tempered, playful, snuggly lab mix, but we also adopted a new family of lab lovers up and down the East Coast that are all extremely dedicated to saving the lives of dogs that would otherwise have no life at all.

We adopted our lab, Diesel, this past summer through SAL and couldn’t be happier. I have been in contact with Rebecca, Stephanie and Kim and can say they are all amazing women with hearts of gold!! They do everything in their power to give these dogs a second chance at life in amazing homes with great families!! We will definitely go thru SAL in the future when we look for a brother or sister for Diesel.

I came across Save A Lab and Rebecca after a horrible experience with another rescue. I have worked in rescue in the past and was very discouraged and stopped for a few years… The photos that are on FB daily drew me back into it and I jumped in head first…. I was burned very badly when I assisted in pulling a Lab from a high kill shelter who I fell in love with.. I soon learned all the things that rescues do, but should not do and how some people who call themselves rescuers, put their egos and feelings ahead of what is best for the dogs… Then into my life came Rebecca… She came highly recommeded by Lab friends and SAL needed a temp foster while a sweet little choco girl’s foster parents went away for a week… So I applied and was approved as a foster. My experience was awesome with all parties involved… Rebecca and I have had lots of correspondence back and forth since then and I believe she does rescue by the book, as it should be done.. There are no priorities other than to save the dogs SAL decides to commit to, no matter the cost emotionally, physically, financially…. It is an honor to be a part of this amazing rescue…. Maybe one day I will adopt a Lab from them as well… Attached is a photo of our little foster Java girl…

I started out as a foster for SAL of a dog that they saved with a mangled leg. They made sure that they took care of every single one of her medical needs which included an amputation. We ended up adopting her as we fell in love with her. SAL is a fantastic organization, the volunteers that run the organization spend hundreds of unpaid hours every month saving dogs. I’ve worked with other lab rescues and this is BY FAR the best one out there!!

I have fostered for Save a Lab, and I cannot say enough about this group!! Everyone is dedicated to rescuing and finding the best homes for all of their dogs. The volunteers are compassionate and caring, and are always willing and ready to go the extra mile for any lab in need. I would highly recommend Save a Lab to ANYONE looking to adopt! The application process can take a little time as they are very thorough in checking references before approving a prospective adopter, but I truly believe that is a good thing!!! A+++++ group!

When I started looking to adopt a puppy, Save A Lab came highly recommended. From my very first phone interview, to when I picked up our “Chewy,” every contact with the volunteers was handled professionally by very dedicated people. I am so thankful we are now part of this wonderful organization. Not only did we add an amazing new addition to our family, we have made wonderful friends through Save A Lab. We will continue to support SAL in every way possible.

My husband and I have fostered some 20 dogs for SAL… Great group to work with, very supportive. They ensure the dogs are adopted by loving and caring people. All the dogs are fully vetted, spayed and neutered. Great group of people saving so many lives!

I was looking to adopt a lab last march and just happened upon this groups website. They are fantastic! They take much care to protect the dogs and keep them healthy. They update their facebook page regularly with available dogs and happy endings. They go way above and beyond to save these labs. In April they found the perfect black lab puppy for me. I’ve been so happy with them that I am adopting a chocolate through them, also. If you’re looking for an amazing experience with a caring, experienced rescue choose save a lab!

We are also grateful to SAL and its incredibly dedicated team of volunteers who are passionate about finding forever homes for this wonderful breed. We are so happy to have Lillet (formerly Liberty/Libby) in our lives. I was impressed that the vetting process for adopters is as thorough as that for the dogs, and I still can’t thank her fosters enough for giving her up! Truly a model organization for rescue work that has inspired me to donate, adopt, transport, and, one day, foster.

My wife and I began fostering for Save A Lab (SAL) this past May (’12) and now we’ve had 14 foster dogs pass through our home and touch our heats. It is such a rewarding feeling each time we watch our latest foster leave to a good home that is excited to welcome him/her. The dedication and effort the SAL volunteer coordinators put forth to save as many dogs as the 501(C)3′s resources can accommodate is never-ending and HEROIC!! Check them out on Facebook, the pictures are fun, the videos are hilarious, the amount of people dedicated to making a difference is impressive…..

I don’t know where to start… As a family of 5 that includes three boys under 6 and 2 parents that work full time, I thought there was no way anyone would give us a chance to adopt. But my husband filled out the application, and after receiving references and a very thorough phone call, we were approved. SAL takes the time to make sure every dog is placed into a home that will care and love their dog as family. We have now had our SAL since Sept 2012 and cannot be more thankful, he is the piece that completed our family. We hope that everyone who considers adopting will consider SAL.

We got our black lab mix Gus from SAL about 3 months ago. SAL took the time to work with us and our inquiries, we were told that they actually contacted our references and vet, and set up an appointment to new our puppy. We could not have been happier with the process and have recommended them many times over. You can tell they really care about the dogs and the families and strive to make the best match.

We adopted our beautiful yellow Lab, Damsel, from SAL. I knew we made the right decision to adopt but as I’ve been involved more and more with SAL, I’ve come to realize there is SO MUCH MORE to this organization. They will go to the end of the earth for every dog they can save. I loved the process they took to chose us as adoptee’s. That is HUGE to me! I was happy to have the phone call, the paperwork, and the time. EVERY dog that goes to a home, adopted, or not, should have to go through this process. Having a dog should be a privilege, not a right. VERY wonderful, giving organization! I will adopt again from SAL FOR SURE!!!!

I am a foster for Save a Lab. I cannot say enough good things about them. They are an awesome group. They care about their animals, fosters and adopters. They go above and beyond to see that the animals they rescue have the best of care. My animals are part of my family and I take care of them as members of my family. The care that Save a Lab provides for their rescues is on the same level of care that I would expect to give my own animals. They are supportive and communicative. I recently fostered a puppy that needed some extra TLC. They where right there with me with help, support, guidance and encouragement.

I adopted Candace in Oct. 2012 and everyone at Save a Lab was and still is wonderful. They all do some much for the dogs and work great as team. I keep in touch with Save a Lab and several of the individuals on facebook and feel like I am part of a family to help all the dogs get new homes. This was my first time adopting a dog as my neighbor shared their dog with me for 10 years. I feel like I am part of a great network.

The work that SAL does is amazing! Such a hardworking group of people dedicated to saving so many dogs in need. We adopted our little angel, Ginger, as an eight week old puppy just before Christmas. (Best present ever!) SAL kept us informed of her progress from birth, posted videos and pictures regularly, and let us visit. It’s only been a month but we’ve has reminders from SAL about puppy shots and recommendations on food. Every step was well organized and thoughtfully planed out. We were thrilled with our experience and look forward to continuing our relationship with SAL.

Can’t say enough good about Save A Lab and the way they run things. We recently started out as fosters and decided to keep our boy Hank forever. We are proud to be a part of the Save A Lab community and truly can’t say enough good things about this organization. Well run by dedicated volunteers. We sing their praises now to anyone who will listen!

We’ve worked with other rescue organizations in the past and Save A Lab is by far the most far reaching and professional we’ve come across.

I adopted both of my girls from Save A Lab and now i foster for them.
I am often asked how can you foster and i reply that i am a stepping stone in saving one lab at a time and i know how Save A Lab does such a through background check on potential adopters so i know that they are going to be loved furever.
Everyone at Save A Lab makes you feel like part of the family and it is so rewarding,
I can’t say enough about how great they are and very professional.

I adopted my Lab from Save A Lab in September. The application process was easy to follow, the contact from SAL was immediate. My dogs Foster Dad was awesome when I was ready to meet my dog. Carson is still a little shy…just not so much with me! I am his favorite pillow and wouldn’t want it any other way. I’m not sure if I rescued him or he rescued me, but without Save A Lab and all the work that they do I would not have my Carson! Thank you Save A Lab…wonderful people and organization!

Save A Lab (SAL) is a great organization. For months, we tried working with another Lab Rescue organization and go no where. We were ready to get a dog from a breeder because it is so much easier. On a whim, we decide to contact SAL because we saw a picture of one of their dogs that stole our hearts. In no time, we went thru all the steps and had a new lovely fluffy addition to our family. If you are looking for a lab try this organization first and save yourself a lot of headaches and heartbreak.
